KKR Private Equity Investors, L.P.

KPE broadens the scope of private equity investing. KKR formed this limited partnership to complement the capital in our Private Equity funds and to allow a broader range of investors, both institutional and retail, to access our investment strategy and track record.

Formed on April 18, 2006, KKR Private Equity Investors, L.P. (Euronext Amsterdam: KPE) is a Guernsey limited partnership that seeks to create long-term value by participating in private equity and other investments identified by KKR. As of June 30, 2009, KPE’s investment portfolio was substantially comprised of limited partner interests in six KKR private equity funds, co-investments in 13 companies alongside the private equity funds and three negotiated equity investments. KPE is governed by its general partner’s board of directors, which is required to have a majority of independent directors, and makes its investments as the sole limited partner of another Guernsey limited partnership, KKR PEI Investments, L.P.

KPE's investment approach has three fundamental strengths:

  • The ability to participate in a broad range of KKR's private equity investments. These private equity investments include the right to subscribe for limited partner interests in KKR's private equity funds and the opportunity to co-invest in certain portfolio companies of those funds and to make negotiated investments in equity or equity-linked securities;
  • The flexibility to make opportunistic investments identified by KKR in the course of its business, which may have the potential to generate attractive returns; and
  • The active involvement of KKR investment professionals, who also have an equity stake in KPE.
